Making Healthy Choices

From time to time my co-workers and I will task ourselves to take part in some healthy eating/working out challenge we found on the internet or came up with ourselves. We’ve taken part in multi-office exercise challenges, squat challenges and attempted to go three days on a juice cleanse (this last one did not end well for our guests and I apologize to anyone who had interactions with me after three days of zero solid food).

Companions make it easier

The joint efforts seemed to work well in our favor for most of the challenges we put ourselves up against. Knowing that there were other people around me doing the same things was incredibly helpful, not to mention I was now accountable to someone other than myself. You may not even know that you need a boost, until that person is there cheering you on and suddenly you’ve completed your routine for the day. It’s an excellent feeling.

Our latest challenge is the Healthy Food Challenge and we thought we’d share it with you all, in case you wanted to follow along.

The Healthy Food Challenge

Incorporate 1 – 3 items from the Healthy Foods List each day into your meals. The Healthy Foods List is:

  1. Spinach
  2. Black Beans
  3. Walnuts
  4. Beets
  5. Avocado
  6. Dark Chocolate
  7. Raspberries
  8. Garlic
  9. Lemons
  10. Lentils

The challenge lasts for one work week, Monday thru Friday, and the more creative the better. Our office favorite? Avocados.
